Christmas Market
This was a great success, making over £1374 in total for the cluster – thanks to everyone for their help – and special thanks to Sharon and Gina for all their hard work (and they did put a lot of hours in) prior to the event.
It was felt that possibly the Village Show may be a better opportunity for the cluster schools to work together, as individually each school could run a successful event around Christmas time.
It was also felt that whatever we do in the future we must ensure it is promoted well – we will investigate possibly using Parentcall and using the website as well as any opportunities that arise, e.g. the School Production, to advertise future PTA events. It was felt that such an opportunity was missed at the Christmas Market to promote the Carol Service – which was a lovely evening that we really should make sure everyone is aware of.
Fund Requests
Carole Silk has asked for a donation of £100 to buy templates and materials for some nesting and bat boxes for the wildlife in our school grounds. This was approved
Peter Wilmore has requested £1000 for light and sound equipment. As this was such a large sum, it was decided to invite him to attend the next meeting and provide more details.
Help Needed – Refreshments for ‘Little Shop of Horrors’
If you can help with refreshments – about 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the 3rd, 4th or 5th of March - and/or help with donations of home-baked cakes or cookies for these evenings, please e-mail Sharon Jackopson a.s.a.p.
Events for Spring and Summer 2010
The rest of the meeting was given over to discussing possible events we could run in the future:
School Disco – to be held at Easter for Years 6, 7 and 8.
Fashion Show – for men and women, using donated/charity shop second-hand clothes. Tracy and Miranda have both had experience of running very popular and lucrative events! We would also feature the girls club who are currently making summer tops.
Army Assault Course – Tracy to look into costs.
Food and/Or Wine-Tasting Evening – maybe along the lines of the very successful ‘cook-along’ evening hosted by the Co-op.
Festival! – a couple of stages (possibly funded by something like Waitrose Community Fund), bands, stalls, children’s activities, etc.
For the future – a Barn dance.
Sharon and Gina are to meet with Cassie to run our ideas past her.
The time and date of the next meeting are to be decided. In future the time may be alternated between 5 and 7pm.
