Key Stage Four
We’re excited to offer you the chance to focus on the subjects you love while exploring new and exciting options. This year, we’re introducing Film Studies, Textiles, Photography, Creative iMedia, Music Technology, and Business to our already broad curriculum.
To help you make informed decisions, you will have the opportunity to discuss options in lessons, take part in taster sessions and attend our Options Evenings. Some of you may already have a career path in mind, while others are still exploring – both are completely normal! Choose subjects that interest and challenge you, keeping your future options open.
Things to consider when making your choices:
What subjects do I enjoy?
What am I good at?
What knowledge and skills will I gain?
How will this choice support my future studies or career ambitions?
Does this create a well-balanced timetable?
Your Curriculum:
All students will study English, Maths, Science, History or Geography and a language (Spanish or French). You will then select four additional subjects, plus two reserves, from the options available. You will also take part in PSHE and core PE, which are not examined. While we aim to accommodate all choices, some courses may not run due to demand or timetable constraints, so choosing strong reserve options is essential.
At the end of Year 9, you will refine your options down to four GCSE subjects. This extra year of study allows you to explore your choices fully before committing to them for your exams.
We wish you every success in making these important decisions. If you need any guidance, we’re here to help!
